Fostering Agreement

Providing temporary accommodation and welfare for cats in the care of Fur and Feathers Animal Sanctuary

What we will do:
To help you look after the cat(s) placed in your care, Fur and Feathers Animal Sanctuary will:

1. Provide you with the equipment necessary to meet standards set out by the Animal Welfare Act 2006
2. Supply you with cat food and litter for the cat(s) placed into your care.
3. Be responsible for the cost of routine veterinary procedures including microchipping, vaccination, neutering as well as flea and worm treatment. We will cover costs of all other treatment necessary. Prior authorisation from Trustees must be given, and our veterinary clinics are to be used.
4. Keep in regular contact so as to provide you with advice and general support as required.
5. Actively seek a suitable permanent home for the cat(s) placed into your care, with the exception of prior agreed 'long-term fosters'.
6. Scrutinise applications from potential adopters to ascertain their suitability as cat owners.
7. Give you reasonable notice when a representative of the charity needs to visit our home to review the welfare of the cat(s) placed into your care, and to inspect their accommodation.
8. Remove the cat(s) from your care as soon as practicable if you give us notice that you can no longer care for them, or if we consider it expedient in the cats best interest to do so, or upon termination of this agreement by either party.

What we expect you to do:

1. Provide a safe, secure and caring home for the cat(s) placed in your temporary care.
2. Following Fostering Guidelines at all unless exceptional circumstances dictate otherwise.
3. Supply us with regular updates and feedback regarding the behaviour and health of the cat(s) placed in your care.
4. Notify us immediately should the cat(s) in your care become ill or injured, or been exposed to something that has potential to cause illness or disease.
5. Permit potential adopters to access your property, under your supervision, at a previously agreed time and date and with reasonable notice, in order to meet the fostered cat(s). All such meets are to be arranged exclusively by Fur and Feathers Animal Sanctuary.
6. Notify us immediately if you are unable to look after the cat(s) placed in your care.
7. Return all equipment supplied by Fur and Feathers Animal Sanctuary within 14 days of termination of his agreement unless mutually agreed otherwise.

Please be aware that:

1. Fur and Feathers Animal Sanctuary cannot accept responsibility for any damage incurred whilst fostering cat(s) within your home.
2. All cat(s) placed in your care will remain the legal property of Fur and Feathers Animal Sanctuary. The charity will retain the right to relocate or rehome the animal, at short notice, if necessary.
3. We will need to visit your property to deliver cat(s) for fostering and relocation.
4. You must not hand over any Fur and Feathers Animal Sanctuary cat(s) placed in your care to anyone that is not an authorised representative of the charity, with the exception of veterinary staff at one of our partnered practices.
